KISAH SI PEMANDU TEKSI...

On last Sunday, I paid a visit to Sunway Pyramid, Kuala Lumpur. One of my classmates from my former school, (SEMSAS), Hazirah, is going to fly to Beijing in this September. So, I went there to meet her for the last time before she flies to China.
Well, it’s not about her that I want to share this time. It’s also not about the Sunway Pyramid….I don’t like the place much actually… but the story that I want to share this time is about a taxi driver who I met on my way back to college after spending my day in K.L.
I was alone at the KTM and was rushing for my prayer… I met one of my friends in front of the 7 Eleven… but as I wanted to go back as quick as I can, so I took a taxi and went back alone. The taxi driver was an Indian old man … and it is his story that I would like to share with others.
He was a kind man. He asked me a lot of questions and I answered them with my pleasure. He loved to share his story with others and I was glad that I met him that night.
He was surprised when I told him that I’m studying A-Level in KTT to further my study in India.
“Kenape nak pergi India, dik? Kenape tak study kat UM ke…”
I smiled,” Sebab ambil scholarship….kerajaan hantar pergi India…”
“Owh….”
Then, he told me that he had been to India once for a vacation. Most of the students from Malaysia are sent to Manipal.
“Dekat India, makan susah la sikit…”
“kenape?”
“Yelah, mereka makan capati … kite dah biase makan nasi lemak…air teh kat sane tak same macam yang dekat sini… minum dua gelas pun tak puas lagi..mesti minum lima gelas baru cukup…”
I laughed. Yes, that’s the truth. I have to prepare physically and mentally for that.
Then, we chat about him. He worked in a post office once before and after retirement he did not work at first. However, after 3 months, he decided to look for a job
“susah la dik. Lepas pencen ni, bile tak kerja..semua penyakit ade. Dulu, kerja berat pun tapi sihat. Sekarang, bile tak kerja, sekejap sakit badan, sekejap sakit kepala. Lagipun duit masuk dan duit keluar jugak. Anak2 pun semua dah besar2…jadi uncle kerja balik la.. “
He told me that all his children had been in good life now. One of them is studying in UKM…and I don’t remember about the other three. He seems happy when talking about his family. I’m sure that he was very proud to have such a good life.
He advised me to start planning for my future now. Death is a fate, but we have to work our life as we’re going to live for thousands years. I’m really agreed with him and he made me realized about that.
Thanks for your advice, uncle.
